My love and passion for photography started at an early stage while at high school. My Father bought me my first camera, a Yashica Minister D. As an amateur, I felt frustrated when my photographs were developed and the colour  was not correct, or special effects were not prinited.  Living in a small town made matters worse,  as the only place to get photographs printed was the local pharmacy who sent spools of film out to be prossesed. Thus my interest on the technical side of photography started

My career in photography took shape when I started an aprentership in photolithography. I  worked for a reproduction house which catered for all the big advertising agencies. I qualified as a retoucher and was responsible for scanning all images for reproduction.

My mentor and work colleague, Dennis da Silva, who worked in the photographic lab which caterd for Black and White processing with some pack shot photography recruited me ot managed the Cibachrome process, a high quality colour printing process.

After buying my first Hassleblad camera,  I was encouraged to photograph a wedding using the Hasselblad, and from then on preferd the meduim format negative giving me the edge over 135mm film.

I love the challenge of wedding photography as it is a form of fashion photography, where there is no second chance, come rain or sunshine. A stringent  time schedule and program must be  followed and as a photographer one has to crack it first time round. I enjoy viewing work of Photographic Masters, where Iam able to obtain encouragement and ideas.

Digital photography has moved in leaps and bounds and photographers can do so much more today.

My camera system is Nikon and have converted to digital quite comfortably
